What is a Porcelain Dental Veneer?
A porcelain dental veneer differs from a porcelain dental crown is that a veneer is only about .3mm-1mm thick. The veneer is only bonded to the lip or cheek side of the tooth to mask unsightly colors in a tooth, recontour its shape or to permanently change the color of the tooth.
Dr. Moos starts off the process of getting veneers with a 1 on 1 consult with the patient. he encourages the patient to bring photos of themselves or other photos of what they are looking for in their new smile. Dr. Moos takes the time to listen to what matters most to you but then also explains the important clinical considerations he has to take into account.
Dr. Moos will then take diagnostic impressions of your teeth. These are used to make mock-ups of what your teeth could potentially look like. He then will allow you to critique the mock up until we get your teeth looking exactly how you would like them to appear. Your teeth are then minimally prepared and a final impression is taken and delivered to the lab to have your porcelain veneers fabricated. Once fabricated, we bring you back for the cementation appointment. Dr. Moos highly recommends a Nightguard to prevent any damage from nighttime grinding to your new porcelain veneers.
