Snoring and Sleep Apnea

Do you constantly feel like you are tired day in and day out? Have you ever been told you snore? There’s a good chance that you have some degree of sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a very common sleep disorder. The most common form of sleep apnea is Obstructive Sleep Apnea. This is when your airway becomes obstructed and limits your breathing patterns. How does this occur? When your body relaxes during sleep your mandible retracts and your airway collapses or closes all together. When you are not taking in adequate amounts of oxygen you are starving your brain. Your body then alerts itself and you wake up and take a gasping breath. This constant routine of starving the brain of oxygen and the body waking up deprives the body of good quality sleep.
